Biography
My name is Sommer Leigh and I live and write in Omaha, Nebraska where it snows too much in the winter, gets too hot in the summer, and produces the best thunder storms.
I write.
I write Young Adult (YA) speculative-fiction, mostly sci-fi and dystopians, but also some horror. Right now I’m working on a novel about superheroes and villains and robots and mad scientists. I’ve also written a novel about zombies and dystopia.
Blogging and Online Stuff
I run Tell Great Stories but I also write every Monday for Wicked & Tricksy -a blog all about the craft of writing and the theory of speculative-fiction.
I am a moderator for Nathan Bransford’s writing and social media forum. I think it is the best gathering place on the internet for writers of all types!
You can find me on:
Email me any time at tellgreatstories@yahoo.com
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Communication from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2007. I do have a grown-up job in a hospital where I get to work with a lot of awesome people.
I have not published any of my fiction but I did work as a freelance journalist for a number of years.
Who is The Professor?
I am married to The Professor, a clever high school English teacher, and we share our world with three cats: Andre, McKenzie and Lola.
When I am not working or writing, I split my time between video games (XBox 360), reading, and art. I love everything that has to do with the internet, social media, and blogging. I like to read about science, history, and theory.
I am a Nerdfighter. I am a reader, a writer, a video game player. I am a blogger, a painter, a world builder, a monster hunter, and a part-time wizard.

Hold it, all this time I didn’t realize you’re living in Omaha, just like me? That’s too weird! We haven’t worked at the same jobs in the past, too, have we? o_O
Small world! I don’t think we have, but who knows?
This promises to be a whole lot of fun! Looking forward to joining in, thanks!
Hi Sommer –
I’m already a follower. I’m also in your group for the Third Writers’ Platform Building Campaign – just stopping by to say hello. Love your bio!
Love your blog…and I love the header! You’ve got a lot of great stuff on here…(btw I also have a grown-up job in a hospital
) New follower!
Yay for nerds!
We have so much in common based on your biography, too bad we live on opposite sides of the country or we could totally hang.
